Daylighting and SunCast

Daylighting Calculations
Carefully sized and positioned glazing reduces the need for artificial lighting and can also mean that the building benefits from passive solar gain without creating overheating problems.

We can use daylight modelling software to assess the building in detail together with the effect of neighbouring buildings and obstructions.

We can also produce the required calculations and reports to assist in the design of a new house or commercial building. We are also qualified to provide the required reports and calculations to fulfil BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes (Hea 1) assessments.

 

Suncast Modelling
Managing the effects of the sun is a feature of good building design.

SunCast modelling enables us to understand and control the geometric relationship between the sun and buildings. We use SunCast modelling to assist with planning applications, to perform graphical and numerical solar studies, visualise shading and solar penetration, optimise building position and orientation, assess right to light, and minimise cooling plant or heating requirements.

We can also animate our SunCast models to be used in presentations.
